Annual General Meeting of SLUSA – 2021
Annual General Meeting 2021 of Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association was successfully held on 26th of March 2021 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Dr. Chandrakantha Mahendranathan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Botany, Eastern University, Sri Lanka was elected as the President of Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association. Mrs. Rohini Puvanasingam, Director of Physical Education, Eastern University, Sri Lanka was elected as Secretary General. Three Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Recorder, Tournament Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Tournament Secretary were also elected.
IDUS celebration – 2020
International Day of University Sports (IDUS) 2020 was celebrated for the first time in Sri Lankan University Sports history on 20th of September 2020 at the University of Kelaniya with over 200 participants including invitees, Directors of Physical Education, Instructors in Physical Education, representatives of Sports Councils/ Amalgamated clubs of SLUSA member universities and university media groups.
Under the guidance of SLUSA, the Department of Physical Education of the University of Kelaniya with the support of the Students Sports Council was an amazing host for the event.
International Day of University Sports (IDUS) to promote values in University Sport, creating a platform for all stakeholders to exchange ideas, good practices and to discuss challenges and opportunities in the movement.
Chief Guest for this occasion was Senior Prof. Janitha Liyanage, Vice Chairperson of the University Grants Commission. Senior Prof. Nilanthi De Silva, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya was the Guest of Honor for the occasion. The keynote speech of the celebration was done by Senior Prof. Tilak P.D. Gamage, former president of SLUSA on the topic of ‘Past, Present and Future of Sri Lankan University Sports’.
The evening session was on team building activities where students from different universities were given chance to strengthen the bonds among themselves. The event was concluded by awarding certificates to all participants including media volunteers.
Workshop for Physical Education Officers
Workshop for Physical Education Officers was successfully held on 25th & 26th February 2020 at the University of Peradeniya. Nearly 60 Physical Education Directors and Physical Education Instructors participated in this workshop representing 13 member Universities of SLUSA.
